POSITION DESCRIPTION:

In this position you are an essential member in R&D projects for next generation high power optical laser systems for metal 3D printing. Together with your team of highly skilled experts from around the globe you will:
  • Develop optical systems for operation in machines for metal 3D printing to increase process quality and for reproducible and robust process control
  • Based on the knowledge of laser-matter interaction we develop the best way for optical energy delivery to achieve best metal fusion results
  • Setup, commissioning and testing of optical systems and prototypes. Carrying out and evaluating test series
  • Develop new optical and optomechanical concepts, their simulation and analysis, for beam delivery systems
  • Develop image processing algorithms for and analyze data from electro-optical systems
  • Actively contribute to product and technology improvement
  • You work in an interdisciplinary team and bring in your first experience in lateral leadership, particularly concerning decision making, employee motivation, agility and relationship building

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • PhD, or MSc with professional experience in optoelectronics, optics, semiconductor, or electrical engineering
  • Experience in writing requirements, specification for optical systems and lasers
  • Deep knowledge of the physical phenomena and the physical process of laser metal interaction
  • Knowledge of physical optics, geometrical optics, Fourier optics, fiber lasers and image and signal processing
  • Strong knowledge in optical modeling and imaging software like Zemax, Oslo, LightTrans 
  • You need to have knowledge how to build optical systems ready for machine integration
  • You need to know concepts of opto-mechanical design, concept for athermalization CAD software and simulation of optical systems
  • You need to know how to qualify and test prototype set-up of optical systems
