POSITION DESCRIPTION:
In this role, you will contribute to the digitalization of SLM machines and connected machine parks by developing scalable data and software platforms for industrial manufacturing environments. You will work at the intersection of machine control, industrial data infrastructure, and applied machine learning to enable predictive maintenance, automated production workflows, and advanced monitoring solutions.
What you’ll do:
- Help our team build and maintain data infrastructure for machine parks (edge and cloud)
- Develop secure, scalable data pipelines for predictive maintenance and real-time analytics
- Serve as a bridge between hardware, PLC, and data science teams to optimize data flow and device integration
- Extend machine control software to integrate new sensors/actuators and embed ML algorithms
- Implement data ingestion, storage, and processing across edge and cloud environments
- Monitor system performance, reliability, and edge-to-cloud communications
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 4+ years of backend development experience
- Fluency in English
- Strong programming skills in Python or C#/.NET
- Experience with microservice architectures and REST APIs
- Knowledge of databases and storage systems, including SQL, time-series/event stores, and object storage
- ML fundamentals: anomaly/condition diagnostics, time-series analysis, basic CV; familiarity with ML frameworks (scikit-learn, PyTorch) and MLOps tooling
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, hands-on mindset
- Collaborative, open-minded, and communicative; comfortable working in interdisciplinary teams
- Team-oriented with strong communication skills; passion for innovation and future technologies
Nice to have:
- Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms, preferably Azure
- Familiarity with industrial device communication protocols
- Experience building machine learning pipelines and real-time data processing systems
- Knowledge of edge device integration
- Experience with LPBF/additive manufacturing or in-situ monitoring systems
