POSITION DESCRIPTION:

As a Level 3 Service Engineer, you will drive continuous improvement for SLM machines from our installed base to R&D, enhancing machine uptime and providing technical guidance for Field Service teams. You will play a key role in ensuring customer satisfaction by offering expert consultation and support, while also consolidating market feedback to improve service department efficiency and system functionality.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

CANDIDATE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as a technical focal point for one or more products, participating in interdisciplinary Product Control Boards (PCB).
  • Act as a communication channel between R&D, Product Management, Quality Management, and the customer’s installed base, with close interaction across global, cross-functional teams.
  • Provide troubleshooting guidance to Field Service teams by analyzing component and system-level issues, utilizing RCA (Root Cause Analysis), FTA (Failure Tree Analysis), and machine log-file assessments.
  • Create and maintain service documentation to explain corrective actions and diagnostic processes for service items.
  • Deliver training sessions for both internal and external personnel.
    Conduct feasibility checks for SLM machine upgrade requests and assess risks for Technical Product Notifications.
  • Provide direct service support at customer sites, investigating and troubleshooting machine malfunctions and aligning with the escalation process.
  • Specialize in specific topics or problems, developing deep expertise to address complex technical issues.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in maintaining or operating laser powder bed fusion metal printers; direct experience with SLM Solutions machines is a plus.
    Understanding of integrated opto-mechanical-electronic systems, laser systems, metallurgy, welding, or optics; experience with metal powder-based melting processes (SLM/LPBF) is highly advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, with excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in German or other languages is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel at least 50%, including some international travel.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
