POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Product Control System (PCS) Engineer is a key role in our product design process. The PCS Engineer is the Control System team leader for assigned projects and programs (new product or peripherals development, or changes to existing ones). It connects the process development, system development and machine safety teams on one side, with the software development, electrical, and pneumatic design teams on the other. Main responsibilities include:

  • Driving the identification and consolidation of requirements for the Machine Control System of Nikon SLM machines and peripheral devices
  • Development of overall control system architectural and functional concepts to implement and flow down previously identified requirements on system and subsystem level
  • Coordination with internal control system design team and other internal company stakeholders in the development of individual subsystem concepts for the Machine Control System
  • Drive the definition of Machine Control System I/O and interfaces (mechanical, logical, electrical) within the system and with external systems
  • Coordination with the Software Development team in implementing concepts in Software, Control System Logics and Algorithms to realize design requirements
  • Advisory support for testing and commissioning systems, as well as service support both internally and externally for the customer
  • Support analysis, rectification and adjustments of systems 
  • Contributing to assess customer needs, technology trends and definition of Control System Product strategy

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in the field of engineering (mechanical, electrical, aerospace), automation technology or comparable
  • Minimum of 3+ years professional post-university experience
  • Experience with system design of complex control systems in the industrial, automotive, medical or aerospace sector
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering, understanding of wiring diagrams as well as software development; 
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers and their programming languages is advantageous
  • Organizational and coordination skills, including organizing technical meetings and overseeing the status on deliverables
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical content and drive decisions
  • Empathetic team player and ability to work in a rapidly evolving environment
